Outed.

I'm out. I accidentally left my Facebook logged in at my house and my mother pounced on the opportunity to read ALL of my private messages.

She's already told my dad, my grandmother, and my uncle--and this just happened last night. I'm sure she let the entire church know this morning.

So... I'm a little stressed, but at the same time a little relieved. Mostly infuriated that my mother has no respect for my privacy, but... whatever.

  2. Oh well. I know from experience, there's never good time to "come out" and you can never actually control being "outed".

Sorry it had to happen that way! :-(

  3. Thanks guys :) So far my family is being civil... I'm about to move back home from college for the summer so I guess we'll see what happens.

  4. If your family is anything like mine, some of them will just pretend like it never happened. My Southern Baptist father still asks what church I'm going to now that I've moved again. I told him I didn't believe in god years and years ago.
It's like a mental block. He's seriously more accepting of my queerness than he is of my atheism.

  5. If it gets to be a problem, ask them to pray that god shows you the way. And in 10 years time you can tell them that you're still an atheist and, if they want to blame someone for that, blame god - he hasn't shown you the way so he clearly wants you to go to hell ... bad god! :)

Seriously, though, good luck with it all ...
